When You Are Too Overwhelmed to Even Begin, Start Here

Ever get so overwhelmed with your to-do list or a business project that you just crash? You can’t focus on what to do next, or seem to accomplish even the smallest task. That is when I find myself on the couch Netflix bingeing, hanging out with my pal, Procrastination.

It is so easy when we are overwhelmed to miss things- signing a permission slip on time, sending in the special school lunch, returning that timely email. Sometimes we need someone to just tell us what to do.

I am here to take your hand and guide you forward friend.

Moving Forward

Start by taking a deep breath and cutting yourself some slack. Running your business while running a household takes a lot of energy. Then grab the printable below that lists the steps to get back on track. If you take 10-15 minutes for each section, you will be feeling more organized in no time. You will have your most important tasks on paper and an insight into what is coming up next. No child’s lunch left behind.

Getting Your Act Together in 1 Hour

{Organize Your Workspace} When you only have small chunks of time to work, a cluttered work area slows you down. You can’t find anything, you can’t focus, and you spill yesterday’s coffee on your notes. Check off the directions on the printable to cruise through this step.

{Tie Up Loose Ends} Only spend 10-15 minutes on this step for now. Just enough to get a few things done that have been hanging over your head; return a couple emails, print that invoice, mail that finished order.

{Revisit Your To-Do List} Follow the steps on the printable to start with a fresh, organized to-so list.

{Look Ahead} That is my most helpful step as a mother and business owner. Getting a picture of what the next few days hold, helps me to plan and not be scrambling for something last minute (that special day school lunch!).

What do you do to get back on track? Take the day off and start fresh the next day? Pick the easiest task? Call your mom? Please share your ideas in the comments or meet us over in our facebook support group for women business owners!
